What You’ll Do

Assistant General Manager (AGM) – Chicago Facility

As the Assistant General Manager (AGM) at our Chicago facility, you will play a critical role in overseeing the full scope of daily warehouse operations across both day and night shifts. This position requires a hands-on leader with strong operational oversight, a sense of urgency, and a deep understanding of logistics, quality, and team coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Shift Oversight & Operational Leadership: Provide end-to-end operational oversight of both day and night shifts, ensuring seamless execution of all inbound, outbound, and transfer processes. Maintain consistent floor presence to ensure quality control, labor optimization, and accountability across teams.
  • Logistics & Coordination: Collaborate closely with the logistics and transportation teams to manage outbound routing, inbound scheduling, and cross-dock transfers. Maintain alignment with Distribution Center (DC) leadership and ensure proactive communication between departments.
  • Quality & Compliance Management: Oversee adherence to food safety, AQL standards, and ERP documentation accuracy. Actively monitor quality checks, inventory accuracy, and transfer protocols to meet service and safety standards.
  • Responsiveness & Flexibility: Demonstrate urgency in decision-making and communication. Show flexibility to work outside of standard business hours to ensure business continuity and cross-shift collaboration.
  • Systems & Reporting: Provide oversight and training in ERP systems, support data-driven reporting, and ensure real-time updates across business functions. Manage and analyze key performance metrics, including outbound efficiency, transfer timeliness, and error rates.
  • Transportation Management: Assist in the coordinate transportation activities, including dispatch, routing, and scheduling of shipments. Optimize transportation for cost-effectiveness, timeliness, and safety while tracking transportation metrics to identify opportunities for improvement in cost, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. 
  • Safety Management: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations (i.e. OSHA, DOT), conduct audits and inspections, implement safety programs, and provide employee safety training.
  • People Management: Supervise warehouse, transportation, and safety staff, conduct performance evaluations, and assist in recruitment and onboarding. Foster a positive work environment and maintain open communication with employees to address concerns and improve morale. Develop and implement staff training programs to improve performance, skillsets, and efficiency. 
  • Facility & Safety Oversight: Ensure the facility is clean, organized, and operating safely. Drive proactive maintenance of equipment and infrastructure while supporting safety, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Maintain alignment with leadership, supply chain, and food safety teams. Facilitate interdepartmental collaboration and drive communication across shifts to ensure consistency and clarity in execution.
  • Budgeting and Cost Control: Assist in budget management for warehousing and transportation, analyze cost and identify cost-saving opportunities, and provide regular financial performance reports.
  • Customer Service: Collaborate with the customer service team to resolve issues related to warehousing and transportation, ensuring timely deliveries and accurate inventory. Address customer complaints or concerns regarding shipments, delivery times, or inventory discrepancies
  • Continuous Improvement: Implement lean methodologies, technological advancements, and best practices to improve efficiency and reduce costs across operations.
  • Reporting and Communication: Prepare reports on performance, safety, and compliance. Communicate regularly with management and collaborate with other departments to align operational strategies with business goals.

Salary Range: 90K - 120K
