What You’ll Do
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Assistant Fleet Manager to oversee our fleet operations, manage truck dispatch, route daily deliveries, and ensure efficient and timely transportation services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics, fleet management, and driver coordination, with the ability to optimize routes, manage resources effectively, and lead a team of drivers.
Key Responsibilities:
Dispatch & Routing:
Dispatch trucks and assign routes for daily deliveries based on customer requirements and operational capacity.
Develop, optimize, and adjust delivery routes to ensure efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and on-time deliveries.
Monitor real-time traffic conditions, weather, and other factors to proactively adjust delivery plans as needed.
Plan routes and deliveries within the FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) guidelines as they pertain to HOS (hours of service)
Fleet Management:
Oversee the maintenance, inspection, and scheduling of fleet vehicles to ensure they are safe, compliant, and operational.
Track vehicle performance, fuel usage, and maintenance schedules to optimize fleet efficiency and reduce downtime.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local transportation regulations, including driver hours of service.
Driver Supervision & Coordination:
Manage, train, and motivate a team of drivers, ensuring they meet performance standards and adhere to safety protocols.
Monitor driver performance, including adherence to company policies, safe driving practices, and delivery timelines.
Provide ongoing support to drivers, offering solutions to issues encountered during routes.
Customer Service & Communication:
Act as the primary point of contact for any customer concerns or delivery issues, ensuring resolutions are timely and effective.
Maintain clear communication with both drivers and customers to keep all parties informed about delivery status and any potential delays.
Reporting & Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of daily deliveries, driver performance, fuel usage, and fleet maintenance.
Provide regular reports to upper management on delivery performance, fleet status, and any operational challenges.
Ensure all required regulatory documentation, such as logs, inspections, and certifications, are maintained and updated.
Problem Resolution:
Resolve any operational issues related to truck breakdowns, delays, or route adjustments, ensuring minimal disruption to delivery schedules.
Address and resolve any driver-related issues, ensuring a high level of employee satisfaction and adherence to company policies.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in fleet management, dispatching, or logistics coordination.
Strong knowledge of transportation operations, driver regulations, and safety protocols.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work under pressure.
Proficient in using dispatching software, GPS tracking systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
Experience with route optimization and scheduling.
Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required).
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in an office and outdoor environment.
Occasional travel is required for site inspections, driver training, or fleet management purposes.
Compensation: $60,000 to $71,000
