WHAT YOU'LL DO
As the Inventory Control & Quality Assurance Associate, you will assist in ensuring the integrity of inventory management processes while ensuring compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory standards. You will lead efforts to strengthen inventory accuracy, implement best practices for quality control, and foster a culture of continuous improvement across the facility. This role requires close collaboration with warehouse teams and a strong floor presence to ensure real-time problem-solving and effective execution of processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Inventory Management
• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts and full physical inventories of food products
• Reconcile inventory discrepancies between WMS (Warehouse Management System) and physical counts
• Maintain accurate records of lot numbers, expiration dates, and FIFO/FEFO rotation
• Monitor and manage slow-moving, near-expiry, and damaged inventory
• Process inventory adjustments, transfers, and write-offs in the WMS
Quality Assurance & Food Safety
• Inspect incoming shipments for product quality, temperature compliance, and packaging integrity
• Conduct routine quality checks on stored products, flagging and quarantining non-conforming items
• Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, and FSMA food safety standards
• Support SQF, BRC, or other third-party food safety audits and certifications
• Maintain temperature and humidity logs for temperature-controlled storage areas
• Assist in investigation and documentation of customer complaints or product quality issues
Documentation & Reporting
• Maintain complete and accurate QA records, inspection logs, and deviation reports
• Generate daily and weekly inventory variance and shrinkage reports for management review
• Document and track corrective actions and preventive measures (CAPAs)
• Prepare traceability records to support mock recalls and regulatory inquiries
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Coordinate with receiving, picking, and shipping teams to ensure inventory accuracy
• Communicate quality holds and product releases to warehouse supervisors and purchasing
• Participate in root cause analysis for recurring inventory or quality issues
• Support onboarding and training of new associates on quality and inventory procedures
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
• High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Supply Chain, or related field preferred
• Minimum 1–2 years of experience in warehouse inventory control, food distribution, or quality assurance
• Working knowledge of food safety regulations (HACCP, GMP, FSMA, FDA/USDA guidelines)
• Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and document discrepancies accurately
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods
